SW Calgary Outer Suburbs
The outer suburbs of SW Calgary are roughly split into the central west suburbs, bounded by the Trans-Canada to the north and Sarcee Trail to the east, and the far southwest suburbs, bounded by the Glenmore Resovoir to the north and Macleod Trail to the east. Most housing comes from single-family homes, with a scattering of apartments, townhouses and duplexes.
SW Calgary Outer Suburbs: Schools
The Calgary Board of Education places most of the SW outer suburbs into Area V. Area V is comprised of communities in the SW and SE of Calgary. It currently operates 46 schools, from elementary to high school, plus a special school for those with physical or learning disabilities. The Calgary Roman Catholic Separate School District No.1 (CSSD) has 25 schools operating in SW Calgary. A number of private schools round out the educational offerings of SW Calgary, including Calgary French and International School, The Calgary Jewish Academy, Calgary Waldorf School, Christopher Robin School, Green Learning Academy, Menno Simons Christian School, Mountain View Academy, Third Academy (for children with learning disabilities) and the Webber Academy.

Most SW Calgary homes are within a short walk or drive of enough shopping in their neighborhood to meet their daily needs. For those looking farther afield, though, there are quite a lot of unique shopping opportunities. The SW area of Calgary is populated by several shopping centres, including Chinook Centre, Britannia Shopping Plaza, Glenmore Landing, Park-It & Market Discount Clearance Outlet, Richmond Square Shopping Centre, Sarcee Plaza, Southland Crossing, Strathcona Square Shopping Centre, Westbrook Mall and Westhills Towne Centre.
There are a number of parks, tot lots and playgrounds near SW Calgary homes, the most well-known of which are Glenmore Reservoir and Fish Creek Provincial Park. There are a number ways to get out and about in SW Calgary and to access the other parts of the city. Public transportation includes Route 201 of the Calgary C-Train and Calgary Transit bus service. A large amount of trails and bikeways allow cyclists, walkers, joggers and winter skiers access to nearly every neighborhood in the area. SW Calgary Inner City
Calgary's SW inner city is just outside Calgary's downtown core, north of Glenmore Trail, west of the Macleod Trail, east of Crowchild Trail and south of 17th Avenue. A variety of atmospheres can be found here, from the affluent neighborhood of Mount Royal to the funky Marda Loop, a dining and shopping destination. As with the neighborhoods, the homes are varied enough to suit just about any budget and taste. Calgary's SW inner city mainly falls into the CREB's Area IV, which is comprised of 56 communities in the SW and SE areas of the city. Christopher Robin School is the one private school in the area.
