Calgary's southeast inner city is the area bounded by Macleod Trail, the Bow River, Deerfoot Trail SE and Glenmore Trail. This area of Calgary offers a variety of homes. Due to the historic nature of Calgary's SE inner city, as many single-family homes as condos and townhomes are available to Calgary home buyers.

Schools:

Calgary's SE inner city is mainly within the Calgary Board of Education's Area IV. Currently, 42 schools are operating in this area, including 3 schools specifically for teaching and treating children with disabilities. The Calgary Roman Catholic Separate School District No.1 has 25 schools in the area, from elementary to high schools.

Shopping, Dining & Recreation:

Every neighborhood in the SE inner city area is served by its own small number of stores. For larger shopping trips, there are the stores and restaurants in the Inglewood neighborhood's International Avenue.

There are many preserves where one can view Calgary's natural beauty and many species of wildlife, including the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary and the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery. The Fort Calgary Historic Park and Calgary Zoo also reside in the area. There are a number of other parks, such as Inglewood Wildlands, Manchester Park and Ramsay Park. The Inglewood Golf Club offers 18 holes of golf in a semi-private club setting. Sports enthusiasts will be happy at the proximity of the Talisman Centre, North America's largest multi-sport facility.

Transportation:

There are several major routes for drivers to access the rest of Calgary from the southeast. These include 9 Avenue SE, 42 Avenue SE, Blackfoot Trail, Deerfoot Trail, Glenmore Trail, Macleod Trail and Ogden Road SE. Calgary Transit serves most of SE Calgary with a number of bus routes and the Calgary C-Train stops at 3 points in the SE inner city: 39 Avenue Station, Chinook Station and the Erlton/Stampede Station.

Calgary's SE outer suburbs are the areas bounded by Macleod Trail, the city limits, Glenmore Trail SE and Barlow Trail SE. Lakeside communities are popular choices here for those looking for relaxing, rural-style homes. Fish Creek offers just about every outdoor pursuit available in the Calgary area: hiking/cycling trails, swimming, fishing, boating, picnicking and winter skiing trails. The lake in winter provides space for ice skating and ice sports. The Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre hosts environmental learning programs for children and adults.

Shopping and dining opportunities are many in the SE Calgary outer suburbs. There are a number of large shopping malls in the area, including Avenida, Deer Valley, Lake Bonavista, Macleod Mall, Midnapore, Shawnessy Centre, Shawnessy Village and Willowpark Southcentre.

Transportation

A home in Calgary's SE outer suburbs is convenient to the rest of the city in a variety of ways. Route 201 of the Calgary C-Train has stops along Macleod Trail. The route serves homes in SE Calgary from downtown to Somerset and Bridlewood. The Calgary Transit bus system also services most of the communities in the area. Major driving routes include 52 Street SE, 114 Avenue SE, Acadia Drive SE, Anderson Trail SE, Barlow Trail SE, Bow Bottom Trail SE, Canyon Meadows Drive SE, Deerfoot Trail SE, Glenmore Trail / 83 Street SE, Macleod Trail, Marquis of Lorne Trail SE, and Sun Valley Boulevard SE.
