Northeast Calgary: Inner City
The northeastern inner city of Calgary comprises the neighborhoods roughly between McKnight Blvd to the north and the Bow River and Deerfoot Trail to the south, Centre Street N in the west and 36th Street to the east. The area enjoys easy downtown access and plenty of bus routes to all parts of Calgary.
The neighborhoods of Calgary's northeast inner city are a vibrant mix of real estate. As you travel farther from the city's core, you will see the housing mix change from predominantly condos and townhomes to a majority of single family homes.
Homes farther away from downtown tend to be more popular with people who have children, as the housing tends to be more accommodating for active families. However, no matter where one lives in the northeast part of the city, good schools are close by, including schools focusing on special-needs children and children in need.
Many neighborhoods of northeast inner Calgary enjoy local shopping and dining at local businesses. Some of these, such as the Bow Habitat Station, the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery and the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary have become popular destinations with all Calgary residents, as has the ethnic restaurants along International Avenue in Forest Lawn.
