Established in 1998, Rocky Ridge is a residential community that lies in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. The community is Calgary’s highest geographical location, granting Rocky Ridge homes magnificent views of the Rocky Mountains. Rocky Ridge real estate offers mainly single family homes, with some condos, and a small number of town homes and duplexes.

Rocky Ridge belonged to the District of Rockyview prior to being annexed by the city of Calgary in 1989. It is bordered by Country Hills Blvd to the north, Rocky Ridge Road to the east, Crowchild Trail to the south and 12 Mile Coulee Road to the west. The area offers recreational pathways throughout the community and with access to many playfields and ponds, residents can truly enjoy the local environment.

The Rocky Ridge-Royal Oak Community Association serves two communities, and offers an abundance of recreational opportunities and services. The association operates sports and fitness programs, as well as dance classes, a moms and tots program, and Girl Guides/Boy Scouts programs. It also provides residents with access to tennis courts, playgrounds and a wading pool.

There are several great shopping locations close to Rocky Ridge. Crowfoot Center is the largest mall in the area, it houses a movie theatre and an abundance of great restaurants and shops 10 minutes away. Residents also have access to the new Royal Oak Shopping Center in neighbouring Royal Oak, which includes a Walmart, Sobey’s, and London drugs. The ultimate shopping convenience can be found within Rocky Ridge itself where you can find a Co-op Supermarket and numerous shops and services in a charming plaza.

Local amenities for the community of Rocky Ridge will be enhanced with the opening of the brand new Royal Oak School, a public K-4 elementary school which will be ready for its first year of operation in September 2010. This new school will accommodate approximately 550 children from both Rocky Ridge and Royal Oak. Other public schools serving the area are Belvedere – Parkway School (K-4), Simon Fraser School (5-9), and Bowness High School (10-12). The separate schools serving the community are St. Sylvester (K-6), St. Jean Brebeuf Junior High (7-9), and St. Francis Senior High (10-12).

With the Northwest section of the Calgary Ring Road complete, a planned Police-Fire-Ambulance Hub and the addition of the final station on the C-Train’s Northwest Line, Tuscany/Rocky Ridge, projected by 2014, Rocky Ridge continues to enhance life for its residents. This young community is has enjoyed impressive progress and its clear to see why Rocky Ridge will continue to be one of the most sought after neighbourhoods in Northwest Calgary.
