The community of Parkland is one of the more established to be found in the south-eastern quadrant of the city of Calgary. It was established in 1974 after the land was integrated into the city in 1961. This spacious community is bounded by the Bow Bottom Trail in the east and Canyon Meadows Drive in the north. It has its own community association and is represented by Ward 14 in the Calgary City Council. The Fish Creek Provincial Park surrounds the community on the western and southern sides. Indeed, there is a twenty meter wide strip of open space bordering the top of Fish Creek Provincial Park which ensures there is adequate access for the public.
