Parkdale real estate consists mostly of condos and single family homes. As an older community in Calgary you will find many character homes dating back to the post World War II era. There is a selection of detached homes and condos that enjoy the Bow River at their doorstep, while you can also find newer condo developments on 3rd Avenue.
Foothills Hospital is situated just north of the neighbourhood along 16th Avenue. Parkdale has easy access to Downtown, via Parkdale Boulevard, and many of Calgary’s main shopping centres as well. Calgary’s Market mall, Kensington Crossing and the Westbrook shopping center are all just 5 minutes away.
The Parkdale community association operates the Parkdale Community Centre, and offers seniors and sports programs. The local sports playfields and an outdoor skating rink are also both run by the community association.
There are two schools serving Parkdale, Foothills Academy (Private) and University School (Public). Foothills Academy was the first school in Alberta for children with learning disabilities, it offers programs for children 8 to 18 years old while University School is a public elementary school run jointly with the University of Calgary.
