The community is bordered by McKnight Blvd to the north, Edmonton Trail to the east, 32nd AVE NE to the south and 4th Street to the west. There is a public elementary school ( Buchanan Elementary) and James Fowler High School in the area. Highland Park also has a community centre which is popular amongst various groups such as dancers, karate classesand seniors groups. SAIT will be providing the centre with computer stations as part of their community access program which will provide residents help on learning to use the internet.
Homes in the area are known for the larger than average lots and therefore the community is seeing some older homes being knocked down making room for attached homes (infills) and side by side duplexes.As of September 2009 real estate prices in Highland Park ranged from $126,900 for a 1 bedroom lowrise appartment to $684,900 to an attached newer two story home.
