Edgemont has the unique distinction of being the largest community in Calgary with over Seventeen thousand residents. Due to its deep escarpments at the SE end of the community, Edgemont offers some spectacular views of downtown and C.O.P (Canadian Olympic Park), and the mountians to the west.
The area offers a variety of opportunities for recreation. There are tennis courts, skating rinks, playgrounds and pathways as well as ravines.
Edgemont has a well established community association and use Edgemont Elementary's gym in the evenings where they meet. The association is responsible for fascilitaing various programs such as sports, seniors programs, tutoring and many more. Edgemont also offers a variety of summer camps and courses.
There are two main schools that service the community of Edgemont. Edgemont Elementary which is part of the public school system and Mother Mary Greene Elementary which is part of the separate school system.
