Bankview can boast being one of the older and more established communities to be found in the south-western quadrant of Calgary. The land upon which part of the community was built was bought by the city from a farmer in the early 1900s. The community became established in 1908 and still features many of its older houses alongside newer builds. The community was laid out in a grid pattern when first developed but this has since been remodeled to allow for apartment walk-ups. Bankview is bounded by 17th Avenue to the north, 19th Street to the west, 26th Avenue to the south and 14tj Street to the east.
